Pros

People are nice and friendly

Cons

1. Culture. Main focus of the company is dependant on what the CEO wants. Employees are cultivated to have the mindset that we are all in a bus and the CEO is the driver and employees are passengers. Quoted from the CEO "if you don't want to follow, you can choose to get out of the bus". Employees are expected to follow what the CEO wants even if it does not help the company/business. 2. Favouritism. CEO shows MAJOR favouritism to some people and those people stands a higher chance for promotion. 3. Politics. Management team wants to prove themselves to the CEO so they take up many responsibilities and pass it to their staffs. And when bad things happen, People push blame instead of working together to solve the issues. 4. Instability. Although it is under SEMBCORP, this company CEO expects you to work more than you are paid for. Hire and fire is common. As long as what you do is against the CEO, you stand a chance of being "asked to resign". 5. Capability. CEO does not seem to understand the entire business fully and does not hire based on capability. As the turnover rate is so high, the hiring is mostly based on availability rather than capability

Pros

Nothing worth mentioning in good conscience.

Cons

1. Despite being a small company with fewer than 50 employees, I witnessed several colleagues being let go in poorly managed and abrupt ways. Some were asked to leave on the same day without prior notice, a performance improvement plan (PIP), or a clear explanation. The process lacked transparency, respect, and consideration for the individuals involved. Additionally, communication to remaining employees about these departures was minimal and poorly handled, leaving many uncertain and uneasy about the situation. 2. There is no flexibility for remote work, and taking medical leave might have been discouraged to the point where some colleagues feel uncomfortable taking time off, even when unwell. This has led to a rigid, unsupportive work environment where employees are expected to show up, regardless of their health. 3. The management style is strictly top-down, with little to no room for collaboration or alternative perspectives. It’s very much a "my way or the highway" approach. 4. Communication from the CEO is often disrespectful, with instances of raised voices, table-slamming, and a general lack of psychological safety. This creates a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere where employees don’t feel secure or valued. 5. The product itself is not meeting expectations. The much-talked-about "end-to-end decarbonization platform" has been in discussion for quite some time, but the product roadmap lacks progress, and the vision seems far from being realized.

Pros

Trying to be relevant in the net zero space.

Cons

In a small organization, transparency is crucial to achieve a collective goal. Unfortunately, the increasingly toxic and hostile environment is undermining a harmonious workplace. The ongoing departures are a clear indication of serious underlying issues within the organization. The tendency to assign blame without delving deeper into the root causes only exacerbates the problem. There appears to be a lack of genuine interest in understanding the best ways to serve customers, resulting in teams going around in circles. This is also reflective on how the CEO operates. The product is struggling to stay relevant and to generate revenue from customers. Moreover, the absence of the right talent in key positions is significantly affecting the organization's morale.
