Pros

Remote work - You can work from wherever is best for you and your family. Our CEO & leaders are set that working remotely is the way of the future & we're not going back to 5 days a week in an office environment ever again. Pay doesn't get impacted by moving. The offices are "there for you if you need them" in multiple locations around the US but I haven't gone to work in the office since the the pandemic started in March 2020. Diversity & Representation - Zillow doesn't just talk the talk - but is actively making strides and putting huge amounts of money, resources, and hiring into increasing representation in all areas of the business. We have our own Equity & Belonging organization as well as a Representation Recruiting Strategy team that focuses solely on these issues & how we can not only hire underrepresented talent, but keep them here and help them thrive. (Definitely not one of those "check off a box" companies that throws a rainbow flag up once a year for a month and then forgets about it the other 11 months). In-Person Gatherings - while we work remote, we get the opportunity to travel at least once a year to meet with our teams in person and get to know each other better face to face. Or meet up in the local offices if your team members are in your area. People First Culture- the people really care here about each other. And the leaders come in and don't care usually don't last long here. Employees constantly talk about our core values and infuse them in how we do business and partner together.

Cons

Change - if there's one constant at Zillow right now, it's growth and change. Which can be a huge positive for many that embrace it & use it to advance their careers. However, I could see this being a challenge for those who don't like to pivot quickly in their jobs.

Pros

Very collaborative team, encouraging team members and managers. Great experience overall.

Cons

Because most people work remote, sometimes it can be hard to meet immediately to chat.

Pros

You can make good money here.

Cons

In sales, job can change often. For example: I was making good money and excelling because I am a relationship Sales person. Then they changed it to where you get the sale, and instead of being able to grow that account via that relationship you just broke into, you have to pass it to an account manager and go back to cold/robo calling. You "book" of business you recive to prospect from is a lottery. I received a book of prospects/accounts that most of the were low income, or senior living properties. They don't have a budget and have a line of renter on a waitlist. No way to convince them to spend money on advertising but you still have the same quota.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed perspective. We understand that frequent changes to roles, account ownership and business priorities can have a real impact on relationship-building and the day-to-day experience in sales. We’re glad to hear compensation was a positive part of your time at Zillow, and we appreciate you being candid about where the model and structure felt frustrating. Feedback like yours helps us better understand how these changes are experienced across teams as the business evolves.
