Pros

The company has discounted merchandise for employees.

Cons

This company boasts of diversity and inclusion on their website. Conversely, they grossly lack effective communication skills, integrity, and professionalism. REI hires incompetent managers and leads that are glorified baby-sitters empowered by cognitively inept management. When you speak up about work conditions that impact your mental and physical health, a basic conversation becomes a coaching without the employee’s knowledge. When the employee acknowledges the unfair treatment and empowers themselves with their policy, your seen as a threat and faced with possible termination. They want mindless drones, not competent works. REI hides behind the illusion of caring about marginalized populations. They have no clue what that means and it will eventually lead to their demise, in addition the millions that they have already lost.

Pros

- Excellent coworkers - REI does a great job of hiring enthusiastic and personable staff - Slightly better pay compared with other retail in the area - Prodeals and discounts - Flexible hours - Good (although rapidly diminishing) healthcare benefits

Cons

- Once a (better) company known for its investment in knowledgeable and friendly staff via extensive training and investment, the company has been slowly slashing away at most of what makes it special since the pandemic - Hours and benefits are worsening, proper employee training is becoming hard to come by - lots of mediocrity and sometimes questionable ethical calls made by management - Punitive disciplinary policies that seem to be designed to create higher turnover (advantageous to them given the gradual pay, benefit and policy changes)
