Pros

A salary saves you from starvation. You learn how Banks make money off of clients so you know how to avoid being a victim of the clever sales tactics. Useful Perkopolis Discounts. Employee discount on Aviva Insurance for home/auto.

Cons

Lots of pressure to make sales despite clients not needing or wanting products, and despite products being potentially detrimental to clients' financial well-being. Failure to consistently meet sales goals is met with the threat of dismissal. "Perhaps you should consider whether you are the right fit for this role", is what managers say when sales performance is low. Management is not open to the concerns of lower level staff because the pressure is top-down and only profit matters. Little opportunity for growth as there is high competition for limited number of positions. Generally a miserable work environment where workers feel overworked, underpaid, disrespected and unappreciated. Also, insurance coverage for dental and vision is only available if you agree to additional salary deductions. Why have me sit at a computer all day, pay $14/hour and then expect me to pay more to get my eyes checked? Ridiculous.

Pros

Stable work life balance. The culture is really great, very easy to work with complex management and managers. Willing to help you grow and learn with clients

Cons

Not a lot of room for growth unless you come in the door with that expectation. It can be very easy to get stuck in this role as your pay slowly increases and the job title mostly stays the same. Associate promotions and raises are rarely given and take a lot of coercion to get.
