Cons
When the owners of the company do not know the basic fundamentals of running a company while the competition does, you are in for a very difficult time. When you are used to operating off a 40% margin, the operational issues that drive profits are not relevant, but when you now have to compete at a vastly different margin your operational efficiencies have to be spot on. The most shocking revelation for me was that the owners of the company really do not know basic business fundamentals. The result is that money is thrown at non strategic IT efforts, with no loopback mechanism to measure the results. The knee jerk reaction is to shift the chairs on the Titanic by cutting good staff and real initiatives. All the very good IT people have left and the IT management is being directed by folks who simply do not have a clue.
