This is a company that is sharply divided between Sales/Marketing/CS and everyone else (e.g. Eng, Product, etc.). The former has an expectation of high rates of attrition, with lower salaries, equity, and commensurate turnover. It is short-sighted and leaves many feeling they do not have a viable career path at Mongo.
I believe there is significant under-investment in customer facing roles as we are not perceived as core value additive and aligned with the shareholder value model that dominates. This narrow-mindedness means we lose some of our most talented individuals to more forward thinking organizations with less conservative tendencies.
Coupled with below market pay and conflicting/overlapping direction/OKRs means we often function in a shambolic manner, unable to achieve excellence across the board.
