Pros
The company culture is the main reason I work here: - After a year, I realise that collegiality is a real thing, not just something on paper. The company really does feel like one big team. - There is plenty of flexibility in terms of PTO, WFH, doing side projects, Guidewire gives back etc. - The decor in the office kind of reflects the youthful energy: an open plan space, lots of colourful rooms, a sort of constant "buzz" about the place - Plenty of social events including Paddy's day, the services event during the summer, the Christmas party, and many more - Onsite services, and plenty of sports activities e.g. football, basketball, bootcamp I also surprised myself at how much I like the technical aspects of my job. I thought that I would only be happy if I was creating code, but I find that I am learning a lot discovering bugs, reporting bugs, finding workarounds, finding quick ways to do routine things, documenting processes. I feel like I'm really contributing here and my work is worthwhile.
Cons
I will be honest, I am not passionate about the insurance industry. Nor am I overwhelmed with our products. This is not to say that, objectively speaking, Guidewire is building bad software. It's purely my subjective point of view: insurance ain't my thing.
