Pros
The discount on clothes can almost seem like another mini-salary. From college students to soccer moms there were always a few people who put in one-digit hours a week to get the clothing discount. There was also decent potential for lateral movement for those who wanted it.
Cons
Management was poor on the local and regional levels. I've never seen hours be quite as mismanaged as when I worked at the Gap.
