If you’re a woman, you will be underpaid for the same job done as a man, but they will always find an excuse as to why you’re not doing the same job. You will be cut off in the middle of speaking up at a meeting Men will disagree with every decision you’ve made, even though they have made the same decision in the past and they will fight you on it Let’s not even talk about getting promoted Group heads don’t care about their teams - except for the ones that are constantly in their offices or their buddies Don’t keep open bottles of water on your desk because the ball being tossed around the trading floor will knock it over and everyone will laugh at you when you get angry. And do they realize that they’re yelling to each other when the ball is being thrown around? Is this a locker room or a place of business? You will also be told that you’re difficult b/c you try to fight for your position, or not hungry to fight for new business b/c you’re not aggressive enough. So what am I? Difficult or passive? As a woman, you do all the work to put docs and presentations together, schedule the meetings, etc, but it’s the man who gets to present everything...in other words, you do all the work but get none of the credit; or sometimes you get called out for the one thing that you didn’t do rather than the 99 things that you did do - all by yourself As a woman, it’s impossible to get junior men to do work for you And it’s impossible to bring up any of these issues with senior mgmt for fear of retaliation
