Pros

The culture is fantastic and people are very easy to get on with. As opposed to some of its peers, Arup lives its values and encourages every employee to put them into practice in their day-to-day work. Communication from top management is clear and flows very well down through the corporate structure. Compensation is in line with the sector and there is also a profit share scheme which allows for profit distribution amongst the employee base.

Cons

Career progression is slow when compared to other professions such as banking or management consulting. Absence of a shareholding base (company is owned by its own employees) prevents the company from making quick decisions and change strategy rapidly in order to adapt to modifications in the operating environment.

Pros

Working at Arup was a great experience, surrounded by smart, motivated, and mission-driven peers.

Cons

This may have since improved, but at least previously, the America's region felt rather second-class compared to UK. Most/all senior leadership, even in the US, was British.

Pros

Great company with lots of good benefits, interesting large scale projects, and a fantastic team of people to work with.

Cons

Be prepared to work long hours, overnights and weekends at times. At the end of the day, it is a consulting firm so the clients needs will always come first over employee health and wellbeing.
