Not great stock/equity options
Executive and senior management is very slow to change
Lots is said about career development, but I haven’t seen career trajectory for many people, as most people leave instead to have upward mobility because of fixed rigidity to “promotion cycles” instead of being flexible with the staff and promotions/merit increases
Communication about major changes is often sent out late to staff or not at all
Company seems more invested in buying innovation through other companies than creating their own innovative products
Company is years behind other comparable biotechs
Pay is paltry compared to so many other companies in the areas, especially with Thousand Oaks being so expensive
Pay increases are also a joke (typically 2-3%), especially considering inflation is 8-10% around the world.
Scientific pipeline groups (R&D, PD) seem to be underinvested compared to marketing, corporate affairs, etc.
The constant talk about diversity is a farce, as in many departments, I can count black and Latinx folks on my thumbs. You’d be surprised too, as they use all these diverse people on their job postings, but reality is far from their postings suggest (look up “ 2020 EMPLOYER INFORMATION REPORT EEO-1 Amgen” and the first link from Amgen shows ~500 of nearly 12k employees are black, only ~1100 of them are Hispanic or Latino)
