      Great company, low compensation - R&D Amgen Employee Review

      Pros

      The science at Amgen is second to none! Focus on patients in everything we do is truly inspiring. Generous PTO and separate sick leave is amazing, including 2 weeks of shutdown (July and December). Lots of opportunities to get involved in various groups, and contribute to the company culture. During this pandemic, the senior management has limited the number of mandatory meetings/calls, which is appreciated.

      Cons

      Compensation is at least $30-$40K below what other similar size companies offer for a comparable role. The common statement is that our benefits are great and therefore offset the lower salary, but that has been the reason for many excellent staff to leave in recent months. There aren't many opportunities for growth, which is also a reason why some talented staff has left.

      Pros

      Excellent compensation, benefits, and career development opportunities. Strong investment in innovation, patient-focused mission, and world-class manufacturing capabilities. The New Albany site offers exposure to complex biologics operations, large-scale capital projects, and opportunities to work alongside talented and dedicated professionals committed to delivering medicines to patients.

      Cons

      The culture and leadership experience became increasingly inconsistent during the last year. Decision-making often lacked transparency, priorities shifted frequently, and employee feedback did not always appear to be valued. The people-centered culture that attracted many long-tenured employees seemed to drift, resulting in reduced trust, lower engagement, and increased organizational uncertainty.
