Pros

The pay is pretty decent, complete freedom of store operations within the guild lines of company policy, the monthly bonuses are good, flexible dress code, the customers, the comfortable environment

Cons

(Long Hours) - Typically a Store Manager works a total of 48 hours which is a lot and more than your normal full-time position, and sometimes working long hours conflicted with my personal life. I really found myself being at work more that I was actually at home. (No Breaks) - being the only manager on duty, you are not allowed to leave the store at all, through out the day I have to constantly ask my associates to get me food from surrounding restaurants. Most time you do not have enough time to eat if the store is busy. (Only Management can ring up transactions) - Being a manager you are giving multiple tasks to have done, and sometimes its overwhelming at times. (No Saturdays Off) - I really hated the fact that in order to take off on a Saturday management have to use at least eight hours of vacation/personal time. (Hard to promote to corporate level) - I have applied to a total of three corporate positions within the company and was unsuccessful in getting the job, I felt that with my experience and my dedication with the company that it would have been a smoother process. DTLR rather branch outside of the company to replace certain corporate position instead of promotion within. I didn't get that at all… smh

Pros

The pros would be the people you get to meet. You meet a bunch of different people from all ages with lots of different styles.

Cons

There is so many cons of this job. Let’s start off with their policy, they are not allowed to sell you NEW released shoes. You can’t buy them from any DTLR period. You have to wait 60 days to use your discount but, they can take your discount away any time the manager pleases. Also, if they schedule you to work a certain day and you cannot they will write you up. If you find somebody to switch with you, they will STILL write you up. You never get your managers # so if you’re running late and they decide to not answer their phone.. write up. Another con would be the managers they talk to you like you aren’t a person. Another con, they pay minimum wage and it’s not commission based. You never work the full 20 hours a week. You have to work 10 hours a week to use your discount. They don’t care if you have another job or not.
