First off, let’s address the elephant in the room. Negative reviews followed by positive reviews that are not detailed and have no negative feedback is a job hunting red flag, and it is more likely that there is poor communication and a toxic culture created by upper management then bad reviews posted by “employee’s terminated for poor performance.” Personally, I will say that Community Rebuilders is like a family, an abusive and dysfunctional family. There are Golden Children that can do no wrong and other employees that are Scapegoats. If for some reason you cannot do your job because another department in the company did not do what was needed, it is common for blame to be directed back at you because “you should have found a way to get it done.” The punishment for incompetence is less responsibility. The reward for competence is more work. Gaslighting is common. Often the same question asked on different days will get different answers, and no matter what you do, you will be wrong. Upper management is rarely in the office, but requires other employees to be there with few exceptions. They are not respectful of their employee’s time, often making last minute requests, but themselves are not responsive to email requests that are time sensitive. Processes are convoluted and often duplicated, and it is a very reactive culture; situations are not addressed until they go wrong, and rarely are processes thought out and documented before they are implemented. It is a very stressful environment to work in, but instead of looking into ways to reduce stress, it is suggested you “do yoga” or “practice self-care.” The ED has on more than one occasion stated during staff meetings, that Michigan is an at will employment state, and if the culture at Community Rebuilders does not suit you, that you can leave…so I did.
