Pros

It’s a great place. Great people. Interesting work and average pay. I really enjoyed my time there and would go back if the opportunity arose.

Cons

But if your like me and have ADHD or other neurodiversities… read the fine print. I had so many instances of the first time I was hearing there was a problem was after I had been doing something long enough to tick someone off. I’m sure the information was out there, I just didn’t know that I didn’t know it. Partly on me, like I said, make sure you read everything.

Stay away at any cost

Pros

Nothing- salary lowest among APS, career goes backwards, no opportunity for learning, meaningless department without real purpose, operational agencies has issues because of workload and clientele, ombudsman justifies by picking up on issues and burning commonwealth’s budget.

Cons

If you value being a public servant and have purpose to serve the public, please stay away. You’ll quit with in a year anyway unless you are in HR or any role that is highly competitive in other agencies like policy, auditing, IT, etc.
