Pros

Hours were good when I worked there, staff was fun, but management sucked

Cons

No training, illegal practices like not doing proper training so they don't have to pay for the time. Told me to learn the videos at home, which means they don't have to pay you.

Pros

Flexible scheduling, good for students or part-time work. Employee discount on automotive, home, and seasonal products. Fast-paced environment helps build customer service and problem-solving skills. Supportive coworkers, often teamwork-oriented.

Cons

Pay is on the lower side compared to similar retail jobs. get very busy during weekends and holidays with limited staff. Training may feel rushed — you often learn on the job. Advancement opportunities are limited unless you move into management.

Pros

Product Knowledge & Training: Canadian Tire provides solid onboarding and training resources, especially for seasonal and technical departments. You get to learn a lot about automotive, hardware, and outdoor products. Team Environment: Most locations foster a collaborative atmosphere. Fellow associates are generally supportive, and shifts run smoother when everyone communicates well. Flexible Scheduling: For part-time roles, scheduling can be fairly accommodating, especially for students or those with other commitments. Employee Discount: 10% off most items — helpful, though it doesn’t go far after taxes. Holiday Appreciation: At the Carleton Place location, the owner of the store goes out of his way to appreciate staff — every Christmas, he gives each employee a generous gift box filled with store merchandise. It’s a thoughtful tradition that makes us feel valued.

Cons

Pace & Staffing: During peak hours or seasonal rushes, staffing and merchandising can feel stretched thin, which adds pressure on associates and affects customer service.
