Pros

IC's are really the backbone of this company Work life balance is actually stellar

Cons

- Évaluation system isn't based on merit as much as they want to say it is; it's based on how good you are at selling your work, and how good you look doing busy work - Pay discrepancies are utterly atrocious - some leads have employees making more than they are - Unequal gender distribution, which was aggravated after the last layoffs - Purchasing studios and repeated words of "we're financially fine" yet "we don't have the budget to raise you" and "we didn't meet our financial budget/targets in one area but we did in another area" are all misdirections - most senior leadership are out of touch with the world today - Released many games in the last 2 years, and none of them worked out well because "we didn't do the right research" - Yt women talking about DEI efforts with crocodile tears - company ignores many concerns from experienced employees until ishh hits the fan, then it's a scramble to fix the problems - most VP's have not been people managers in these past few years, and their lack of emotional awareness & maturity clearly shows - hr will tell your boss everything you said in a conversation with them - many departments don't share learnings or best practices with each other which means you'll see the same mistakes happen repeatedly throughout your tenure - short minded business decisions for short term gains are ruining this company - many people managers don't know how to manage expectations upwards or downwards well, which defeats the "no crunch/great work life balance" mentality

Pros

- Your coworkers will likely be very nice and welcoming. Same for your immediate lead / tech lead. - Free breakfast and lunch at the office. - Work/life balance is fantastic (this might change in the near future...)

Cons

- I would argue tech positions on some projects are "dead-end", dealing with either deprecated or in-house tech. It might be difficult to move on elsewhere. If you're aiming for a junior/intermediate position, assuming some are even available given current market conditions, avoid. - Misleading job descriptions. Make sure to double check with whoever does your technical interview what your responsibilities would be. - "Open offices" for the regular employees. If you suffer from any type of attention disorder, or you just dislike noise, get some good noise cancelling headphones. - Main Montréal office is in an awkward location for those that don't live downtown. Good luck parking nearby if you need to drive, you'll need it! - Full WFH removed. Hybrid is still alive (2 days in office), for now. - Three rounds of layoffs in a year.

We are pleased that you valued your colleagues and the quality of work-life balance. This is an important part of our culture. We are also delighted to hear your feedback about free breakfast and lunches (we do love them too!) Whilst our flexible working policy has changed to reflect the evolving needs of our business, we are also taking positive action to ensure our offices are inclusive and enabling spaces for our team. Your sentiment on employee trust and morale resonates with us. We are taking positive action to engage our team, increase the transparency of our communications and work together to build a great colleague experience. Have a great day!

Pros

-Decent working environment -Not much work crunch -Decent work life balance

Cons

Pay isn't competitive enough to live comfortably in Toronto but slightly manageable to get by. It's expensive and we're still offered a very mediocre salary as if we live in Montreal, which is significantly cheaper to live in. The company doesn't listen to us at all when we're giving feedback internally to suggest quality of life changes to the game and even told us to remove the paid version of an anti cheat to use the free version so that they could save money. The company cares more about saving and making money than providing comfortable living wages and making the game more enjoyable and safe for the community. As publicly noticed, there are many rogue employees who will outright take action against innocent players and the company will refuse to hold them accountable. Chaotic company to work for over the last few years but working for the money because the job is easy for anyone with the skill set

Pros

A good place to learn at, traditional game creation methodology and pretty robust infrastructure. Pretty good pay, very good benefits, good work life balance.

Cons

When presented the opportunity to take a risk or follow something more inspired, the executives go for what they believe to be the safe bet. In this case, the safe bet is Dead by Daylight (reproducing what worked there) or following whatever has previously proven to make money. It’s a very business-driven studio. There is also a strange cult of the CEO from the older employees that speak like he’s the one actually using his money to give them their bonuses.
