Looks like a great company, but it isn’t.

Pros

The product is solid, it’s a good offering in theory, the results and effectiveness are a little wishy-washy. You just have to believe. On average, the people they hire are top notch in terms of likability and skills. The amenities like snacks are good, although other local startups have similar or better perks/food.

Cons

The cult of personality centred around the CEO is a little freaky. Although the CEO is very charismatic, she isn’t a science or psychology expert yet she is touted as being one. Very little credibility. The place is a revolving door, and the response from the top is openness and honesty in theory, but rarely in practice. Job security is extremely limited. The growth/empowerment is disingenuous as the senior management team is essentially a group of the CEOs friends who are hand picked usually from other startups. Disagree with them as little as possible and as much as you dare.

Friendly culture, but don't get too comfortable.

Pros

Friendly, open environment. Almost everyone is great on a personal basis. Decent location, nice building. Their mission is an ethical one. Free snacks. At its core, the product is solid.

Cons

The "startup" mentality is a bit overplayed. They spend a lot of effort touting how they are honest and agile, but in my time there I didn't see much of that. What I saw were people constantly trying to cover up their mistakes, throwing each other under the bus, managers being catty with their reports and with each other, and a desperate "pivot" any time the board didn't like something. Turnover in some departments is ridiculous, and there is never ANY explanation offered. You're just expected to get back to work and not ask questions. People who do good work disappear without warning, while the dead-weights can do no wrong.

A lot of uncertainty about the future

Pros

- Work-life balance - WFH - Some really great colleagues

Cons

We just went through some layoffs that we were promised wouldn't happen (following an acquisition). It's not a good time to join the "Axonifam" because they are absolutely planning to acquire more and more companies, thus creating more "job redundancies" as they call them. The culture/trust has taken a hit since these layoffs, and most of the employees I'm close with are currently looking for other jobs.

Axonify Response

We’re sorry to hear that you’ve lost trust in Axonify. The recent acquisition grew the Axonify team by almost 30% and through the process of setting the team up for success and being mindful of our business needs, we identified certain roles—7 in total between both companies—that didn’t align with the combined structure and nearly 300-person workforce. This was a very difficult decision for the leadership team at Axonify and was not taken lightly nor is it a reflection of the current issues affecting the tech sector. We understand your concern for the team members impacted by this change and are determined to build back your trust. Thank you for sharing.
