Pros

I worked here for over 4 years and had some really good times . Had some great challenges to solve and wonderful colleagues to work with . While they were a public company , they used to pay Engineers quite well (350k for senior engineers and 500k for principal was possible)

Cons

Went from 5 stars to 1 star after TB takeover(I had put a 5 star review about 2 years back). Was an amazing people friendly company before the takeover. Private Equity bought Anaplan at a premium rate when the market was hot and now they want to reduce costs aggressively (Similar to Elon musk's Twitter play). Almost half of engineering was let go with pathetic severance(1 week per year of service) and significant outsourcing . Come here only if you have no other choice. You are not going to learn anything from a tech standpoint because now they only care about keeping the lights on for the platform and not investing in new areas. The new compensation philosophy is a joke and you almost will not get equity anymore(You might but that equity is fairly useless)- so overall comps will significantly reduce. You could very well go work for a bank and make the same money doing 9-5 than working at this toxic hellhole. Absolutely toxic leadership and zero empathy

Pros

As an engineer, Anaplan used to be a fantastic company to work for. The management was supportive, the culture superb, the pay good and the work interesting. The London office was particularly vibrant with a lot of very talented engineers and caring leaders. The previous CEO really cared about the employees and culture in a genuine hands-on way. He also ensured everyone received a generous financial share of the company value in RSU's.

Cons

Unfortunately, around the time Anaplan was acquired by a private equity company in June 2022 all that changed. Anaplan is now being turned from a creative powerhouse into a pure cash cow. The new owners ONLY care about money. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but financial success is no longer shared with the employees. The private equity team has proved time and again they will trample on anything and everything to make cash. Case in point is the complete trashing of the culture. People are now units to be removed from the balance sheet. All the great leaders and culture carriers have been pushed or have jumped. The leaders that are left are fighting like cats in a bag as they try to protect themselves. At the risk of too many metaphors, everyone is stabbing everyone else in the back. However, more worryingly, the new owners clearly don't understand what drives the value proposition. Development in the primary product is being made dormant alongside an ongoing process of moving lots of engineering to low cost locations. My advice is to find somewhere else unless you are very desperate. You will probably regret choosing Anaplan.

Pros

There's no pros to be said here.

Cons

HR spends more time adding fake reviews than they do fixing the culture at Anaplan. Everyone is afraid to speak up and when they do, they will face "political consequences". The talent is decent but the "technical" leaders are a joke. You will be amused that most of them can't code a print "hello world" statement. The organization is filled with decent talent who can't stop dreaming about quitting their jobs for better opportunities as well as upper-management who hide their mistakes by blaming others. Don't ever try too to work too hard here; you will never be recognized even if you are the real deal. This is the harshest review I have ever written but it has to be said before another job seeker destroys their career here. I am doing them a favor. If you had any type of respect for yourself, you wouldn't put yourself in this position.
