    Software Development Manager Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Irvine, CA (US)

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at a2z Development Center (Irvine, CA (US)) in October 2011.

    Interview

The initial interview setup was as usual. The original scheduled interviewer bailed out 30 minutes before the call. Since I had taken the time off, I opted to continue with an another one. The recruiter took 15mins to setup the new one. The new interviewer had obviously no prep but surprisingly, when I asked him, have you reviewed the resume, he said 'No' and showed no desire to do so.

I guess we started off wrong with his first question, where he wanted me to write down a function and then read it back to him. I was not ready for such a question. Tried giving him the algorithm but kept insisting on the actual syntax. With over 2 decades in the software industry, this sort of verbal coding was new to me. I should've read the code to him from a website!

I lost the interest and the respect for the interview. I consider the experience as the worst interview so far.

    Interview Questions

    • Implement atoi() and read it back to me over the phone! The interviewer was pretty stubborn in hearing the actual syntax over the phone not the algo nor pseudo code.   Answer Question
