We’re looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our Technology team and help build the next generation of our data platforms. You’ll work with cutting‑edge cloud technologies, real‑time data pipelines, and the full Databricks ecosystem as you enable data-driven decision making across the business. In this role, you will:

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and modern cloud tools.
• Develop high‑performance workflows in Python, PySpark, SQL, and Databricks notebooks.
• Implement Spark Structured Streaming for real-time analytics.
• Use advanced Databricks features — Delta Lake, CDC, LakeFlow Jobs, Lakehouse concepts, AI/BI Dashboards, and more.
• Work with Azure technologies including Data Lake, Synapse, Event Hubs, Cosmos DB, containers, and API services.
• Design robust ETL/ELT processes and ensure data quality and governance.
• Optimise performance using partitioning, caching, Delta Lake, and advanced Databricks features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex pipeline issues, ensuring reliability across environments.
• Support production systems, monitor performance, and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, analysts and wider business teams to deliver exceptional data products.

What We're Looking For - Tā mātou e kimi nei:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• 3+ years' experience in data engineering or similar.
• 1+ year hands‑on Databricks experience (including Spark Structured Streaming).
• Clear understanding of key Databricks components such as Delta Lake, CDC, LakeFlow Jobs, Delta Live Tables, pipelines, and workspace orchestration.
• Advanced skills in Python (fast API), SQL, PySpark, and cloud‑based processing.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory & Databricks Lakeflow Jobs including Data Lake, Synapse, Event Hubs, etc.
• Knowledge of cloud data storage (Delta Lake, Parquet, JSON, Avro).
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, containerisation (Docker), and IaC tools.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, a collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently.

• • Azure Data Engineer certification
  • Experience with streaming tech (Kafka, Event Hubs, Databricks Zerobus)
  • Exposure to MLOps, machine learning pipelines or media industry environments
  • Data governance and security experience
