I applied and got reached out by HR in early June. Went through the standardized process - hr screening call, 1 on 1 manager interview, then did a technical project. At this point, it's been a month.
Didn't hear back after I submitted the technical project so I reached out. HR stated the position was unavailable at the moment because management put a pause on hiring. I was like okay, but what is the estimation on the pause? No reply again. Two days later, I was reached out on linkedin by the same HR rep trying to sell me on the SAME position. She did not realize I (email + linkedin) am the same person and blew her cover regarding the unavailable position.
I questioned her and she finally admitted the team has moved on with other candidates.
Hey, don't get me wrong, I understand if the team has made their choice for next rounds. But why would you hide that from the candidates? "Hiring was paused at the moment" is very different from what actually happened. We invested our time and energy on your company. You should be professional and respectful in return, especially if you are HR.
