Interview
Quickly after I applied online, they replied back letting me know that they were reviewing my application. They promised feedback in the following week.
Friday, the following week, I got feedback that my application had been shortlisted and that they wanted an interview.
They told me that they would schedule an online interview shortly and let me know of the date and time.
A week later and no reply, so I emailed them asking (tactfully and politely) about the status of my interviewing process.
The following Friday invited me for an interview, which I accepted.
The interview went well, but half-way through it was obvious that the role we were talking about had little resemblance to the job ad.
The job advertised was more of a data engineer/developer role, while they were looking for a more onsite consultant/technical instructor role.
I was about to decline continuing when they said that they had another role more suitable for me (as a Scala/Java developer).
They said that they needed two weeks to design a technical evaluation/coding test.
Two weeks later and no sign of them, thus I decided to contact them (once again tactfully and politely) about the status of my application.
They replied back three weeks later saying that they were having some issue putting the coding test together, but that my interviewing process was still active.
It's been a month now and no follow up whatsoever, thus I'm officially giving up on them.
I don't understand this uncivil behavior. I was super nice in my contacts with them, I'm more than qualified for the role, my English is good (IELTS certified level 8), I have an extensive portfolio with samples of my code, as well as knowledge of linked data, as well as data engineering and data science.
I reckon I deserved at least some feedback or at least they could have just spared me from wasting my time and just declined my application from the beginning. I guess they were just having fun at my expense... Childish...
