      Senior Backend Engineer Interview

      17 May 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ziina in Mar 2026

      Interview

There were total five rounds - first one was recruiter screening round where we had discussion around job, profile etc etc. Second round was Tech discussion round with lead where the we had basic tech discussion around past projects, tech stack, contributions. It was fun round. Third round was 1 hr pair programming round where question was around search and sync pattern which i solved in java with constant space and time complexity, the test cases were implemented as well. At every important step i explained my logic, discussed time and space complexity throughly and yet i was asked to re-take pair programming round if interested in moving forward, as they wanted to better understand my thought process even though the submitted code had all necessary comments. I agreed to proceed for additional round, this time the question was around grouping and filtering/computations on transactions and i focused on discussion more as per the previous feedback. The issue with this question was to run this code pojo implementation was required and it would have been quicker with scripting language maybe but with java its time consuming especially in-accordance with design patterns, i was able to implement grouping part and 2-3 computations from 5 computations but i couldn't implement complete usecase as it was lengthy for 1 hour at least in java. Still in remaining last 5 mins i discussed how those remaining could be achieved but anyways i was rejected in this round as i couldn't complete exercise which i found irony to the last round where code was completed along with test cases. During all the stages i used to ask each interviewer one business + tech combined question around fundloss, wallet and fund movement (nothing nda types) to evaluate them as well, for a startup i got bit isolated environment impression. Anyways i was rejected in this stage, the further rounds would have been system designing+presentation and cultural fit round. I was very much interested in this position as it closely aligned with my previous work and my interest in fintech but this was very weird experience for me . If you are good with scripting languages and experienced in fintech then you should be able to clear it.

System Design Round + Presentation - Digital Wallet system design in detail & cross questions. and create a presentation of any topic & share with them. 5. Culture Fitment with leadership 1 think I want to point out is difficulty in communication as its internal role, so accent is difficult to hear
