Interview
One phone call from hr, one technical interview about 1 hour. Then onsite: Two rounds behaviors, one round problem solving, one round system design. I go to San Franciso for interview. The culture of the company is good.

Question 1
General behavior questions. problem solving question similar to the technical interview before onsite.
Behavior:
What Drives You: You’ll talk about project ownership,
successes, failures, and your areas of interest in tech
and your future aspirations.
Pro Tip! Prep a couple examples of how you’ve managed
roadblocks or tough situations and what you learned.
- Teamwork: You’ll share your past collaboration,
conflict and feedback strategies, and mentorship
you’ve given and received.
Pro Tip! Be ready to share your past experiences working on
projects you’ve led and/or worked on in a group setting.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp in Jul 2021
Interview
The recruiter was highly abusive, constantly received implications linked with my current employee which helped me to understand the processes set up by them.
The interview process was pre-concluded in order to contribute to a bullying campaing.
False information around Tier2 was given as well.
No actionable feedback given despite the ask.

Possible easy/average programming task, highly interrupted process and set up for failure despite the ease of the task.

Interview
1. Introductory HR round - Nothing specific, just background checks
2. An online coding test - 3 questions on Hackerrank, exceptionally easy to solve.
3. Another HR interview - Primarily involves details about the whole interview process.
4. Face-to-face online coding round - You are expected to code in a programming language the interviewer knows. If you are like me, you will get a guy who ONLY knows Python. You will be asked or let's say "forced" to code in Python even if you are not comfortable with it. Also, you are expected to give the exact solution the interviewer has in mind. ANY other solution, and BAM! you are out of the interview process.
2 days later, I received a rejection email saying "We cannot provide individual feedback" for the rejection. I felt that I was better off where I am instead of going to Yelp. After all, who'd want to work for a company where transparency is not valued, where shady decision making is done, where you are forced to code in a programming language.
My advice:
1. Only apply if you are a Python expert turned SRE.
2. You are okay with ZERO transparency.
3. You can give the answers to the interviewer from the manuals, AS IS. Like a kindergarten test.
Will I EVER apply to Yelp again after this experience? Never, not in this lifetime.
Am I satisfied after the rejection? Of course, I am. I value Transparency and Polyglotism.
