      Associate Interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Walmart (Langley, BC) in Jan 2018

      Interview

I submitted several online applications for associate positions. A few days later I received a call ( which I missed) asking me if I would like an interview. The manager who called said she had my resume and left me her name but I didn't get it through the voicemail. Instead of replying by phone I went directly to their customer service and requested a 'personal' or manager. The customer service provider recommended I call before coming in but referred me to a manager anyways. I waited for about ten minutes before a manager arrived. He did not have access to my information so essentially I was applying for the first time. - He asked some questions on how I would deal with difficult customer situations. - My work experience, this was my first job so I did not have any work experience however if you describe your volunteer experience and quick gigs in detail it helps a lot. Volunteer experience of which I happen to have in leading camps and custodial jobs by connection. Describing your skills help too, such as mentioning any first aid training. - He also directly asked about my work ethics. I explained that I am actually not a great student but I give it all when it comes to camp leading and work in which I feel others depend on me. Honesty is the best policy. - He inquired which positions I would like and gave a few examples. They value the fact if you are feeling excited for the job or not. - Hours of availability are very important to them especially if you are part time. I assumed he liked me somewhat because he then went to find my information. Which took 20 minutes -_- but afterwards, seeing that my applications and assessments were in check he offered me a position in the Deli which under his management in the Fresh section. Completely different from everything I applied for. I was genuinely excited for my first job but if you are not I think you better seem like you are because he asked me twice. The whole process took a good hour. Pretty sure it won't be that intensive if you did your homework and booked an interview properly like a good citizen. So, to recap, 1) do online applications and all assessments. 2a) If you get a call answer it, genius. Book your interview 2b) If you don't get a call barge in like a savage and demand for a manager politely. Not on a weekend there are less managers around and the place is more busy. You're probably gonna get an interview 3) Once you get into an interview, be polite, look a little scared but eager. Be honest but also point out your good qualities. Teamwork and leadership are ranked high. Mentally prepare some real life examples where you had to deal with tough situations and resolved them harmoniously. 4) aay the questions vary read above for what I had to answer. 5) Pretty sure your gonna get that job my friend, I totally winged it.

Automated video interview, answer questions with a prompt. The questions are all basic questions that would typically be asked in a hiring recruiter screen. Didn’t seem very difficult and was very straight forward to complete.
