1 hour grilling that I should have walked out of before the end.
One of the team ambushed me with a memory test of extremely specific level 1 questions in a rapid fire approach. I explained that I do not have photographic recall and would check the requirements every time, especially as the Immigration Rules are vast and change so often. This did not deter him. I felt attacked and was constantly interrupted when trying to answer questions that were put in no particular order making me have to attempt to jump backwards and forwards in time to remember very specific points.
When feeling under attack, anyone who has previously suffered any sort of trauma, which I have, reverts to survival mode which makes using the frontal cortex almost impossible. This was the most useless way to gauge a candidate's ability and in my opinion showed this particular interviewer to be an insensitive bully and the organisation as a whole to be unprofessional and one that has no understanding of people management. I would not want to work in such a company for any amount of money.
If they wanted to check my ability, advance warning and a timed assessment on a computer without the bullying may have been far more useful.
