      Senior Product Manager Interview

      11 Feb 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Visa Inc. (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2019

      Interview

Visa seriously needs to up their game on how they handle candidates. In the past year, I have interviewed for three different roles at Visa. With the first role, I had a phone screen with the recruiter but was notified shortly afterwards that the role had been cancelled. No issues there - it happens. A few months later, I interviewed with another team in Visa. I had a phone screen and then a phone interview with the hiring manager. After a couple of weeks, I followed up with the recruiter to check on the status of my application. He informed me that they had decided to move forward with other candidates. No hard feelings as to why they didn't choose me...but why didn't the recruiter proactively notify me that I was no longer in consideration for the role? That's the least he could have done. A couple months after that, I interviewed for yet another role in Visa. This time, I had made it to the final round, which was an onsite interview, which lasted several hours and involved meeting each person on the team. The hiring manager had actually been emailing me directly, and as an applicant/interviewee, it was confusing to me who should be my main point of contact (as I had previously been in touch with the recruiter as well). After this final interview, I never heard from Visa again. At this point, this is just a bad look for Visa. If a candidate goes out of his/her way to commute to your office and spend several hours meeting your team, the least you can do is send an email notifying the candidate that he/she will not be receiving a job offer. I am just surprised that this effectively happened to me twice in the same year. Unacceptable, and rude, in my opinion.

      Interview

Everyone was lovely, but long process. Talent acquisition team out of Singapore are hard to get hold of, you don’t get contact details which makes it hard to follow up.

      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Visa Inc. in Nov 2025

      Interview

There were four interview rounds—peer, associated team, hiring manager, and senior director—each lasting about 30 minutes. The interviewers were punctual, patient, and friendly, making the process itself positive. However, it has been nearly a month with no follow-up from HR, which significantly impacted the overall experience due to the lack of closure.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about yourself. Tell me about your experience with the last org? Tell me a complicated product problem that you solved. How did you achieve the outcome? What problems did you face technically? How do you drive integration testing? Why do you think you are a good fit for the role? How do you handle large, complex data? How do you make decisions based on data? How do you ensure the quality of work? Tell me about a time when you led any initiative that was complex. What went wrong or right? What did you learn? What are you looking for in the next role? Tell me about a time when you failed and how you communicated to the stakeholders Talk to me about your strengths and weaknesses Tell me about the KPIs for the work that you have done How do you prioritise with competing features

      Interview

4 rounds of interviews, was expecting technical questions but were mainly behavioural. All panel members kept saying, 'We wish you join us' repeatedly but they rejected me. Recruiting HR never spoke with me on phone ever, just interacted through TA. After 4 positive rounds, if they are rejecting a good candidate it means either they found someone internally, or settled for a candidate with lesser CTC expectations - I wish they could be upfront about it.
