      Administrative Assistant Interview

      30 Apr 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Boston, MA) in Mar 2025

      Interview

terrible TA experience. Had good overall experience with virtual interviews. Received a competing offer, let recruiter Adrienne know about my offer so she jumped the gun and verbally offered me the position for $100K per year. Called me the next day to rescind offer - said I had to go onsite for an informal lunch and that I would be one of two candidates going onsite for two open roles. Had me wait a week to tell me hiring team didn’t like that I showed them pictures of my dogs during informal lunch and they thought by showing pictures on my phone showed I was disengaged and that I did not get the job. Said they went with another candidate which made zero sense since she described the onsite interview as more of a formality. I gave up another offer to be led on by the recruiter. Role was with US Market Access, fyi. I would typically not result to writing reviews but hiring manager and TA doesn’t even have decency to respond to my feedback about my interviewing experience and how they could do better.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      - what do you like to do outside of work? - out of all the candidates who have applied why should we hire you? - questions about experience with coupa? - why do you want to work at vertex?

      Administrative Assistant Interview

      4 Oct 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Vertex Pharmaceuticals (London, England)

      Interview

Convoluted and negative. I had 8 interviews for an permanent administrative position. 8 occasions that I had to be available during working hours to interview with Vertex. I was asked to interview with each member of a team plus an extra person from a completely different department. The language used in the interviews indicated that I had the job on multiple occasions, e.g. 'when you start' 'your predecessor'. They changed the interview schedule multiple times throughout, even though I had already provided my availability I was offered time slots that did not match so I had to keep changing my schedule which was unfair on myself and my employer. After the 8 interviews, I was then left for weeks without hearing anything back. I finally sent a chaser asking for some feedback and I received a phonecall from HR explaining that they had offered the job to someone internal... HR also explained that they did have a TEMP admin job in another department that they would like to interview me for. Meaning I would need to come in and interview with a whole other team. I withdrew from the process and provided my negative feedback to HR.
