I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at United Airlines (Houston, TX) in Jan 2013
Interview
Applied online and received email to call and schedule interview. I had a UAL executive management referral and other major airline FA experience. I Non-revvd to Houston day before interview. Interview began 9am. Approx 60 people in attendance. Begins with a brief overview of company and informed us that we were being hired under Continental. Informed us that Continental and United FA's do not fly together (?) and FA union contracts are separate at this time with no date given for unification. They have been merged for almost a year? Also you must pay $100. deposit to attend training which is deducted from your $700. uniform fee. Training is unpaid but you will receive $20. daily for incidentals. Brkfst and lunch provided free.
On-line FA's on temp duty conduct initial one on one interview and call each person out into a cubicle. The FA was very pleasant and asked questions about reserve, relocating what I have been doing recently. Then moved into situational questions. I had anticipated 2 or 3 questions but I had approx 6. When interview was closing, she asked what I would like United to know about myself and if I had any questions for her. She said that they would notify me within a week as to my status. On the bus ride back to the airport, one out of 10 had a paper asking her to return at 12:30 for more interviewing.

Question 1
Steps you will take to ensure you are successful at training
It started with the Assessment, followed by 8 video questions, and then the video interview. The in person final interview I am waiting for. They said I would know in 2-5 business days.
Its a multi-step interview process. First a resume submission and a questionnaire, then a pre-recorded interview with a few questions. I was asked this during the pre-recorded interview. Waiting for my live virtual interview!
