Pros
Large airline in a large hub city has its advantages. Good co workers and generally positive attitudes overall. Overall, good learning experience.
Cons
The airline industry is not without its difficulties and long term employment risks. Anyone seeking a long term career within one company may want to consider the history of the industry.

Pros
The overall outlook of the company looks good.
Cons
The overall outlook of the company looks way too good but internally it’s a mess. Specially the Gurgaon office. The loyal employees of the company who have been into the system for long are making way less money compared to new people joining the company. They do not give good appraisals. They always have a reason for not able to give good hikes. The promotions are also very subjective. If there is an opening for a higher role, then anyone can get a promotion but in case there is not then it’s impossible to get a promotion even if you have worked your Agg off. Only the people who asks for promotions/hikes get it. You can’t expect to get anything without asking. If you sit tight and expect your performance to get you these things then you’ll just get an average appraisal of 6-8%

What can I say its a huge upgrade from Southwest
16 Mar 2023 - Aircraft Maintenance TechnicianRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
One of the easiest jobs you will ever get, they dont drown you with impossible workload, like Southwest Airlines. Tried out Southwest Airlines for 6 months, I broke 3 ligaments on my forearm and my shoulder was badly hurt, they threaten to fire me, I am glad I left and went to United. They took care of me like family, unlike Southwest they have a fake reputation. Their real intent is to work till you're injured and quit.
Cons
Nothing, just dont go try out places like Southwest and think 5 year top out is a great idea, I promise you a broken hand or badly sprained knee is what you are waiting for. Don't make my mistake and go to Southwest, Glad I left and went with United.

A great company to work for if you're flexible
13 Mar 2023 - Reservations Agent in Salt Lake City, UTRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flight benefits were my reason to sign on with the company. The entry-level pay is comparable to that of other airlines with a slight differential if you speak a foreign language. Work-life balance can be good as long as there are no flight disruptions, otherwise expected to work in mandatory overtime. Flexibility can be high if you're able to trade away your shifts.
Cons
Micro-management by immediate supervisors and managers is at a very high level. Employee monitoring can be very stressful and lead to extreme anxiety. Company focus on performance metrics is almost inhumane. Employees are numbers and high replaceable. Toxic culture of high expectation and intimidation.

Pros
Large company, solid core values, vision for the future
Cons
Large company, there will always be approx. 4% of the population which don't do their best. -- Just enjoy what You do.

Pros
Benefits, medical, working with pilots
Cons
Horrible quality of life. Management does care about our work group. Minimal time with family. FTI’s get assigned the majority of the late afternoon to 0200 simulator slots. Lots of late nights then the occasional early morning. Very unhealthy sleep schedule. Very low pay. We need new work rules and a pay raise. Senior instructors are leaving to work for other airlines. Quality instructors are turning the job down because they can’t afford to live in Denver at starting salary.

Nepotism, Favoritism, low pay, bad schedules
15 Mar 2023 - Pilot Crew SchedulerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flight benefits, pretty good health insurance
Cons
United is the opposite of meritocracy - it's the reason why it's the most unionized airline because management will always favor friends and family. Management in pilot scheduling is run by high school graduates that simply ingratiated themselves to a director with below-average intelligence to get promoted. The company markets itself as a progressive airline but behind the scenes is still run chiefly by boomers and their mentality to work. I had a colleague who was late to work and was in a car accident and they reprimanded him. You must look elsewhere if you're looking for flexibility, good pay, and time off. Of course, disregard if you're going to be working in corporate but realize they only give you 2 weeks vacation.
