After brief self introduction and a brief go through my portfolio, the director were saying they need to have a trial to verify ones capability. They promised they will paid for the trial but never got paid.

Plain and simple, the front desk manager leads you to the interview desk and gives you a bottle of water. Later on, he starts screening your resume and starts asking simple and basic questions, all questions related to the resume and CV.
