First round was an online Microsoft Teams informal chat this went well. Second round was an in person interview at their manufacturing site in Tattenhall, Cheshire. I stood at the door pressing the doorbell for a few minutes until someone walking by from manufacturing opened it for me. There was no receptionist available and there was no sign of the two people who would interview me. I didn’t even get told to sign in. My interview was supposed to be at 9:00am but it took them 10 minutes to come and see me. The interview process was messy - people coming in and out. There was obviously no clear structure of how they were supposed to interview me. The manager made me talk to the team and they introduced themselves, their role and how they worked as a team. Suddenly the manager got pulled in for an emergency meeting for around 30 minutes to an hour, I never had a formal question and answer meeting during this second interview. I was then pulled downstairs by the head of HR so that she could show me a presentation of the company, history, structure and how different departments work together. I then asked her questions. Once the manager finished with her meeting, I was then instructed to do a test which consisted of food safety knowledge, HACCP, packaging and allergens questions this test took 30 minutes. Finally we went downstairs to HR to discuss more and have an informal conversation. I feel like if there is someone on site to visit you and is interested in the company then you should make time for them especially as I had to take a whole day off for this interview. They offered me the job but I had other interviews and was still talking to other companies. I replied to all their emails and was 100% honest about this. The company then decided that they would keep this role open for other candidates while I made my decision. The company then said they’d be in further contact with me so we can catch up on our thoughts. I emailed and texted but nothing until I got an email saying “we will not continue with your application any further”.
