      Executive Team Leader Interview

      15 May 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Target (San Francisco, CA) in May 2015

      Interview

I met a ETL Representative at a campus career fair who put me in touch with a recruiter who quickly set up an initial interview with which was really brief and had a lot of the questions already mentioned on this site, which she requested I answer using a version of the STAR method. I was notified on the spot that I was moving on to interview with a Store Team Leader. I completed the online assessment they sent me (primarily logic based questions and behavioral leadership and management videos that you respond to by selecting the best and worst ways to handle the situation. I did not hear from them for over a week and tried to contact the scheduling specialist several times without a response so I then contacted my recruiter again--the specialist sent my interview notification to the wrong email so I missed it. Then she rescheduled me and sent me the wrong store location--one in Arizona, not Northern California, which I had to contact her several times to request. At my actual in person interview, the STL asked me a lot of standard behavioral questions but was highly unprofessional and spoke unfavorably of his boss and was rude to his employees and spoke poorly of his previous employers. After that, while we waited for the District Supervisor to show up, we walked around the store and straightened things up and returned carts to the front of the store, which I thought was weird. Two hours later, the District Supervisor arrives and asks me two questions about my resume and then asked me to tell him about a very personal life adversity I overcame and proceeded to ask me increasingly personal questions about it. It was uncomfortable and coercive and I do not see at all how it was related to the position.

      Interview

It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
