      Visual Merchandising Team Leader Interview

      18 Nov 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Nashville, TN
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Target (Nashville, TN) in Apr 2019

      Interview

When I arrived for the interview the interviewer was 20 minutes late, which is fine on its own and happens sometimes. However, after sitting down to interview the interviewer seemed to not know what I was interviewing for. They scrolled through their computer and said "I have an opening in apparel- would you want that?" They insinuated, after barely speaking to me that I would be good "in fashion". The job I applied to was listed as being around $40,000 a year and matched my experience and resume: which I don't think they even looked at. They offered me $12 an hour part time with out benefits for a job I didn't apply to and didn't interview for. I left feeling shocked and emailed saying that I wouldn't be working there. I explained that I didn't want to work for a company that treated incoming employees this way. I explained that it wasn't the job I applied for and I felt my time had been disrespected. I had another job offer at another company and went with it instead. I mark the interview as "Very Easy" because there essentially wasn't one, they just offered the job. This was in TN.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

None, they (the interviewer) didn't ask me any questions. They didn't even seem familiar with my resume.

      Visual Merchandising Team Leader Interview

      11 Apr 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Austin, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Austin, TX) in Apr 2020

      Interview

I applied online, got the phone call to set up the first interview two days later. I went in for my first interview with two ETL's, took approximately 30 minutes (it was just general interview questions regarding to teamwork and how you work with different personalities) After they asked if I could stick around for another interview with the Store Manager, I only waited about 10-15 minutes and was able to interview with her. This interview took about 30/35 minutes and asked similar questions, but wanted more clarification specific to the past VM experience I have. We walked around the floor and talked a little bit about target standard. She asked me questions about previous merchandising decisions I made and how they were beneficial to other stores. I was told I would be contacted that day to set up a third interview. The third interview was set up 3 days later. The third interview was with the District Visual Manager, It was on the floor and took about 40 minutes. We talked about different floor pods and what I would change and why. I was extremely honest, referring to what I know about current trends and placement, she was very welcoming of what I had to say. It took another 3 days after that to receive the call for a job offer.

      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Target (Cumming, GA) in Sept 2017

      Interview

I didn’t get get a call for weeks after submitting my application online. I called the store to speak to HR and she reviewed my application and called back to schedule an interview for 2 days later. I interviewed with an HR representative then was told they wanted to move me to the next phase. She left the room and came back with the store manager and I had a second interview. I was called a few days later to set up an offer meeting with the HR Manager. I declined the offer because the position seemed to be more sales driven than visual.
