The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Target (Minneapolis, MN) in Jul 2011
Interview
I was introduced to a store leader, who was very professional. Our interview lasted 30 minutes, and he advised me that he thought I would be great for the position and that he would email a recruiter to get the ball rolling. I received an email to schedule the phone interview and I got a call in a couple of days. The interview with her last for 20 minutes and she told me I'd be notified in 1 week. Just 2 days later HR sent me a no thank you email. Keep in mind I have my MBA and I have worked in various customer service and leadership roles. I don't think any less of Target, but I don't agree the system is fair. I believe the store leader should have the discretion to offer me a job if they feel I'm the right person, not some random person who is asking pre-written questions.

Interview
It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
