- Before the screening interview, I had a brief call with the Talent Acquisition Team member. During this call, she described how the visa procedure looks like and I got familiar with the Points calculator service that determines whether you meet the requirements for getting a visa in Austria (as a non-EU resident). This was a great experience overall and it's good to know as it helps you set your expectations during the early stage of an application process. After the call, we came across the fact that I don't meet the requirements for getting a specific type of visa (Other Key Workers). They asked me if I am also open to global remote work even though this is still being discussed internally within the company.
- The next screening interview was held with the CTO member of this company. The aim of this call was to hear more about the role and to get to know each other better. He briefly explained about the position and tech stack I may get in touch with. Also, it was emphasized (a couple of times) that the company cares very much about the cultural fit of the candidate within the team despite the lack of experience. As far as I understood, they will allow you to learn and grow if you are highly motivated. That is the main culture of this company in general.
- In the end, they decided not to move forward with my application "because other applicants more closely match the vacant position". It is quite unexpected to get this kind of generic feedback considering all the points I was told earlier. The company obviously has a fake representation of its culture which is confirmed by the approach of a team member that interviewed me and didn't even appreciate my time during the working shift. My overall experience was ruined because of the final outreach.
