I applied online. I interviewed at Shook Lin & Bok (Kuala Lumpur) in Dec 2024
Interview
As in most interviews, the ice-breaking question is always 'tell us about yourself', which develops into a discussion on your interests, which areas of practice you are interested in and why. Then, depending on the area you have applied for or indicated your interest in, the interviewer will ask some technical or legal questions, which can be interpreted as an attempt to ascertain your base-level knowledge in your area of interest. Towards the end of the interview, you are likely to be given a problem question or a scenario in which you would require on-the-spot thinking and applying the law, legal terms, and principles that relate.

Interview
My pupillage interview with this firm was my best experience. The partners who interviewed me were nice and warm, setting a good tone from the beginning of the interview process. You will mainly be posed with legal scenario based questions on your preferred practice area or favourite law school subject, and the interview objective is to mainly gauge your thought process and flow in articulation. Think legally but also logically as the interviewers do not expect perfect answers, but to see if you have good potential to be honed. Overall a positive experience.
