A first quick conversation with the hiring manager turns into a surprise technical interview. After some time, I'm invited on site for a 4-part interview. While the first 2 parts, the technical and the research parts, go well, I'm told that the interview with the Chief Product Officer is suddenly cancelled, and I'm talking to the hiring manager once more. "I already have everything I need to know about you", she says, "if you don't have anything, we can end this early." If that's not a hint, I don't know what is. The next week, the job listing is taken off their website and, otherwise, is quiet. The week and the next week are even more. Finally, an email: "Thank you for your patience. We've decided not to move forward with the Special Programs Analyst role at this time."
A good faith attempt in building relationships with potential employees does not entail quickly sweeping someone out the door. Nor does it involve leaving someone out to dry for weeks. Hiring should not be a chore, but I was treated as one by SameGoal.
