SAP Labs recently visited our campus Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) for 2025 placement drive, offering a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their skills and secure a position in one of the most prestigious organizations. Here is my interview experience during the placement process.
Company Name: SAP Labs
Role: SAP Basis Consultant
Job Location: Pune
Eligibility Criteria: 10th & 12th: 60% and above
CGPA: 7.0 and above (No Active Backlogs)
Interview Process
The recruitment process consisted of three rounds:
Aptitude + CS Fundamentals Test
Group Discussion (GD)
Technical + HR Interview
Round 1: Aptitude + CS Fundamentals Test
The first round was a 1-hour MCQ-based test that evaluated aptitude and computer science fundamentals. The questions were straightforward, and I found this round to be relatively easy.
Round 2: Group Discussion (GD)
Topic: Being Famous vs Being Knowledgeable
Tips for GD:
Start the discussion confidently.
Use fluent English and maintain clarity.
Support your points with relevant examples (very important).
Highlight key aspects, including pros and cons, during the discussion.
I initiated the discussion and ensured my points were well-structured and backed by examples, which helped me stand out.
Round 3: Technical + HR Interview
This was a face-to-face interview with four interviewers. The interview was a mix of technical and HR questions, focusing on my resume, internship experience, and skills.

Introduce Yourself
I provided a concise introduction, highlighting my technical background, projects, and achievements.
Discussion About the Role
The interviewers explained the job profile and asked role-specific questions. I took this opportunity to clarify my understanding of the role.
Q: Any problems you faced and how did you resolve them?
A: I shared challenges encountered during my internship and projects and explained the strategies I employed to resolve them.
Q: How efficient are you in learning new technologies?
A: I discussed how I quickly adapted to new tech stacks during my internship, citing examples from my internship like Prisma ORM and PostgreSQL.
Q: What frameworks and technologies have you used during your internship?
A: Node.js, PostgreSQL, Prisma ORM
Q: Can you explain Prisma ORM?
I explained its functionality, advantages, and use cases in database management.
Q: Why did you choose PostgreSQL?
I discussed its features, such as scalability, performance, and support for advanced data types.
Q: Difference between RDBMS and Non-RDBMS?
I elaborated on the structural differences, use cases, and examples of each.
Q: What machine learning models have you trained, and why did you choose them?
A: I detailed the models used in my project, such as Random Forest Regression, and justified my choice based on the problem requirements and accuracy achieved.
Q: How have you demonstrated teamwork?
A: I shared experiences from hackathons, internships, and hobbies like cricket, video games, and trekking.
Q: Why do you want this role despite having a strong coding background?
A: I emphasized my problem-solving skills and expressed my desire to work in a renowned organization like SAP Labs.
Q: Family Background and Future Plans
I provided a brief overview of my family and mentioned my current focus on learning and growth in the corporate world. When asked about pursuing post-graduation, I stated that I might consider it in the future.
Conclusion
After the interviews, 5 students were selected from our college, and I was fortunate to be one of them. The entire process was an incredible learning experience, and I’m thrilled to start my journey with SAP Labs.

Be well-versed in your resume, especially your projects and internships.
Practice aptitude and CS fundamentals thoroughly.
Improve your communication skills for GD and HR rounds.
Show confidence, clarity, and enthusiasm during the interview.
