I was contacted by an external headhunter working for the company for a very interesting leadership position. The pitch was professional, and a document perfectly summarized the position. At first, I wasn't completely sold, but after several exchanges with him, I agreed to move forward with the recruitment process. That's when things started to get strange. The company took a long time to contact me, and I later discovered that they had posted a job listing similar to the one I was interested in, but not the same. The interview went well with friendly recruiters, but they ended up discussing the job they had posted themselves, not the one I had shown interest in. Nonetheless, they were positive about my background and personality during the cordial exchange. After thinking about it for a few days, I decided not to pursue the opportunity since the context had changed drastically. I informed them in writing as requested, but I never received any response beyond "we received your message" and "good luck with your search." Overall, it was a weird candidate experience.
