I recently had an interview for the Technical Product Manager position, and unfortunately, my experience was quite negative. The hiring manager came across as dictatorial, setting an uncomfortable tone for the interview.
M asked tough standard questions, with two or three standard questions in one question. The questions were so strange that they were put in the chat for me to read, but what stood out was his lack of empathic interest in me as a candidate. The interview felt more like an interrogation than a conversation, with little to no effort to establish a connection. When I inquired about the team dynamics and whether there was a scrum master, his response was short and somewhat harsh: "You will be the scrum master."
Furthermore, I had concerns about the working hours. The response was brief: I need you to be available in the evening for US time and, because of our strong office work culture, work three days in the office Dublin time. This indicated a significant amount of overtime would be required. It also seemed that I would be expected to juggle multiple roles, including functions of a System Analyst, Scrum Master, Release Manager, and Product Manager.
Overall, the interview process left me with a negative impression of Riot Games. The role's demands and the hiring manager's dictatorial approach made it clear that this position would not fit me well, and I withdrew.
