      Software Engineer Interview

      21 Oct 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cerritos, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at REVOLVE (Cerritos, CA) in Sept 2019

      Interview

Barely prepared and unprofessional I applied online and went through a phone screen, onsite interview, and Hackerrank challenge. Received a phone screen from an HR representative asking me about my experience and why I was changing jobs. An onsite interview was scheduled the following week. The morning of my interview the recruiter changed the location of the interview an hour before I was set to go in. During the onsite interview process I was interviewed by three developers within the company. The first interviewer asked some basic algorithms and databases questions but was very pushy with solutions and hints as if he just wanted to get the interview done as soon as possible. After that I waited nearly 20 minutes alone in the interview room before my next interviewer came in, who had no idea he was set to interview me that day. He managed to ask some interesting brain teaser questions and seemed genuinely interested in me as a candidate. My third interviewer was ok, did not have too much to ask or say of substance and asked me a repeat of the question my first interviewer gave me. I should also note that somehow none of my interviewers knew exactly why the position I was interviewing for was even open in the first place. I asked for a tour of the office and my interviewer delegated this to my recruiter. I saw that the engineering department and all other white collar teams were in a divider free open-floor plan. Space between desks was extremely sparse. This was going to be a non-starter for me and will be a non-starter for other engineering candidates. After my interview my recruiter asked me to take a Hackerrank challenge, which I did the following weekend and it involved some more object oriented related programming questions and a somewhat advanced Databases question. If you don't use SQL/MySQL outside of basic CRUD operations you may have trouble. I notified my recruiter that my results were sent in, and then received nothing. No rejection email, no acknowledgement that my results were received, no phone call. I then later found that my recruiter took another job at a different company a week later. I assume my application is floating in the void somewhere. I was offered a considerable amount of money to contribute to Revolve's engineering efforts but based on my interview experience and the answers I received while asking questions to my interviewers, I have doubts that Revolve's engineering organization is as healthy as it should be. Even if I had received an offer I think I would have likely turned it down.

      Software Engineer Interview

      19 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at REVOLVE

      Interview

Interview loop: Recruiter call ~20mins to go over background 3 rounds of interviews 1. 1 hour video interview with director of engineering 2. 1 hour video interview with director of engineering 3. 1 hour interview with VP of softwaring engineering All 3 interviewers seem very inexperienced, not interested in interviewing, and are poor communicators. I get the vibe that this company is very disorganized and poorly managed. Questions range from simple brain teasers to simple coding challenges using a google word doc.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cerritos, CA

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at REVOLVE (Cerritos, CA) in May 2013

      Interview

The interview process consists of two steps. 1) An HR Manager calls you to know your background and discuss the resume and your past work experiences. 2) If they are impressed with your skills they will call for an in-person interview in their Cerritos, CA office. The in-person interview interview begins by meeting Engineering Manager who will ask to do a coding assessment test. The test consists of 4 programming questions which you to write their solutions. And based on the solutions another Developer will ask more questions.
