      People Operations Specialist Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pluralsight in May 2025

      Interview

My recent experience with Pluralsight’s recruitment process was disappointing and felt unnecessarily disjointed. I originally applied and moved through initial stages of the interview process, including a screening and a first-round conversation with a hiring manager. Not long after, I was informed that the role had been placed on hold due to internal changes — something I completely understood and appreciated being informed about. Weeks later, I was recontacted by the recruiter and told that the position had reopened and was available again. I was asked to reapply, which I did promptly, and reiterated my continued interest in the role. During our communication, I was assured that my prior progress in the interview process would be taken into account. However, instead of advancing from where we left off, I was left in limbo without clear direction, despite following up multiple times. The final communication I received informed me that the team had decided to move forward with another candidate — a decision I respect. But the lack of consistency, the extended wait with vague updates, and the need to restart the process after already investing time and energy left me with the impression of disorganization and poor candidate care. As a seasoned HR professional, I understand things change internally. However, clear communication, respect for candidates’ time, and transparency are foundational to a strong employer brand. Unfortunately, those elements were missing throughout much of this process. I hope Pluralsight considers improving the structure and professionalism of its candidate experience moving forward.

Thank you for sharing your experience so candidly. We appreciate the time and effort you invested in our interview process, and we’re sorry to hear how frustrating and disjointed it felt from your perspective. We agree that clear communication, respect for candidates’ time, and consistency are essential parts of delivering a professional and fair candidate experience. In this instance, we recognize we didn’t meet those expectations. The internal changes that paused and then reopened the role led to gaps in our process, and we should have communicated more clearly and ensured your prior progress was handled as promised. We’re actively looking into what went wrong here - beyond the obvious disruption - to understand how we can prevent this from happening again. We’ll also review how we manage role changes and look to improve coordination so candidates aren’t left without clarity or direction. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and we wish you the best in your next opportunity. - Dani Foust (Director of Talent Acquisition)
