For such a high-level position, I prepared meticulously for what I assumed would be a professional interview with the hiring executive. I interviewed 7 current and former Pluralsight employees and prepared a detailed early plan for integration into the role. I dressed in a suit and tie, arrived early, and prepared several questions for the 30 minute interview. The interviewer arrived late, waiting for a flight, off-camera, and told me he had 15 minutes. The questions were impersonal and unrelated to the position. It was clear, after a few minutes, that I was not being seriously considered for the position and that I had barely an ounce of attention from the interviewer. I sent detailed follow-ups and action plans but wasn’t given more time because of my “lack of experience”’. Please don’t interview people if they don’t meet your experience expectations, and if you do, please take it seriously as we do.
