The day in the life interview is a second part to the first interview. If you are interested in pet care they will schedule you a day in the life. You will receive a tour of the facility meet a supervisor and go out with a social group of dogs. They are seeing how you interact with staff, pay attention, follow instructions, and if you would be a good fit for pet care. It may not seem like an interview but often the supervisors makes the final say on the hiring process.
