I applied online. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource (Port Arthur, TX) in Mar 2014
Interview
Applied at Payless online in February. Got a call back in March. Forgot I even applied but I got a call one day, saying if we could set up an interview. I was so shocked and excited. It was my first interview ever.
First interview lasted 25 minutes. She gave me three different scenarios. Four days later she called me for a second interview, in a different location.
Second interview was the same as the first. Answering a list of scenarios.
When answering the scenarios be truthful, there is not wrong or right answer, it is just based on your experience or your past.
Both interview was 1:1
Had to do role play for both interviews. It is quite easy! All you have to do is say, "Welcome to Payless Shoe Source, my name is blah blah and how can I help you today?" Always suggest other shoes, ask them what color? what occasion? tell them about the discounts, tell them what you can wear with the shoes, don't be shy, and accessories them.
Both managers said I did wonderful with role play, I received a A+ lol.
Both managers agreed to hire me and I got the job!

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource (Ontario, CA)
Interview
Fairly typical interview process, they call and set up an available time with you. They do not do group interviews. They ask fairly typical questions pertaining to retail, no questions stand out.
The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource (New York, NY)
Interview
Applied online, called within 2-3 days to follow up. I did receive a call back to schedule an interview with the store manager, after that I had to schedule and interview with the District manager (Store manager called me back after the interview to schedule it) fairly long process for such a basic position. Store manager asked me retail related questions such as "tell me about a difficult customer" "sale me this shoe and a accessory". Interview with the District Manager was more of a conversation, we talked about store goal such as sales and what my job really is as a sales associate.

Interview
The interview was very to the point, your typical interview for a retail position. Asking about experience, whether youre good at sales, good with people. The manager seemed really nice, was very outgoing and friendly.
