Postion: Executive Data Analyst Hong Kong
Application status: Interviewed and was told the role was under salary approval, but was later informed they move forward with another candidate
Timeline: around 1 month
Red flag:
- Last-minute confirmation "approval proceeding this week", then rejection with generic AI-template rejection letter
- Complete silence when requesting feedback
The overall process was structured and quite detailed, two rounds of 1:1 interviews, a 3-day case study assignment, followed by a panel presentation and Q&A session, plus an additional technical test(not difficult).
After completing all rounds, I was told that i passed and it was under salary approval. HR mentioned in a phone call that the process is delayed cuz she was on leave and the approval result would be available in the following week. However, after following up next week, I received a rejection email instead, and no further response from then. Later, I found that another candidate experienced the same - also told that approval was in progress, then later received almost the same template rejection.
understand that budgets are limited under the current economy, but plz show basic respect for candidates’ time and effort
Advice to Management:
- Respect candidates' time - if budget is an issue, communicate early
- Provide at least basic feedback after extensive, multi-round interview process
- Avoid using AI-generated template rejections, personalize them minimally
- Be transparent about decision timeline to maintain trust
