I first applied for the receptionist position, interviewed for that - then was invited to reapply for path 1 guide, which is invite only.
I was offered the opportunity to audition for path 2 early, which is teaching classes because they saw “something special in me”. Learning that script took upwards of a week and feels a little exploitative in retrospect. The whole process was a lot of work and they want to know a lot about you personally, which can make this hurt a little more if you are rejected in the end.
Maintain professional boundaries and know that your vulnerability can be used against you. This is a transaction, a job and a business on their end. It can feel personal and like they’re leading you on, don’t think for a moment that you’ve got the role. You’ll be blindsided - a lot of performative energy in retrospect. It was my first time being exposed to this, just be aware.
If you teach classes expect to make next to nothing extra off them, the bonus was nothing to write home about. Also expect 2 months of unpaid online training before you begin, and when you do,
to be scheduled 8-10 hrs a week.
