One of the worst interviews, I was told not to prepare and just to come in ' for a chat about the role'. I specifically asked if I should prepare and was told no. Again in the email confirmation 'just for a chat'. I assumed it was just questions about my previous experience and a chat about the role. As soon as I got there, no introduction about the role, no friendly conversation, straight from reading questions from a questionnaire asking me how I would deal with certain situations in their company. If I was briefed on the role and what I would be doing then it would have been easier to answer the questions. I was told they would contact me with the decision either way, but I never heard from them. Advice: if you are recruiting for a HR role, maybe try and amend your interview process and explain the kind of interview it would be (STAR, competency based) and not just say 'a chat' so the interviewee doesn't attend unprepared! Get to know the person, ask them about themselves and break the ice instead of going straight to the interview questions. Honestly it was such a terrible interview I would not even want to work there even if I was offered the role.
